The
Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) creates the
opportunity for new and innovative approaches to workforce
development within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The
WIA offers the opportunity for significant change and unprecedented
cooperation between public and private sectors in supporting
Pennsylvania’s workforce development. The ultimate goal is
to ensure that Pennsylvania possesses a world-class work force
capable of meeting the present and future labor demands of
Pennsylvania’s workers and businesses.
The
Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board is a
business-led policy and oversight organization responsible
for creating a comprehensive, community-wide response to the
challenges of building a highly skilled work force.
