ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION AND JOHN HEINZ INSTITUTE CONDUCT LEADER TRAINING FOR PEOPLE WITH ARTHRITIS CAN EXCERISE COURSE
The Arthritis Foundation and the John Heinz Institute have joined together to offer FREE training for medical and fitness professionals interested in becoming certified Trainers for the PACE exercise Course (People With Arthritis Can Exercise). This program is supported by a grant from the Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of NEPA.
Today, doctors and therapists know that moderate physical activity can improve your health without hurting your joints. PACE is an exercise program designed specifically for people wiht arthritis that uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion and to help maintain muscle strength. It also helps increase overall stamina. Two levels of PACE classes are available, basic and advanced. Participants previously enrolled in the PACE program have experienced such benefits as increased functional ability and self-care behaviors as well as decreased pain and depression.
The PACE Leader Training will be held on Thursday, February 20th at the John Heinz Institute at 150 Mundy Street in Wilkes-Barre form 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Pre registration is required.
