LOCAL CENTERS WIN AWARD FROM INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF SHOPPING CENTERS
-- (10/02/2002) -- Four malls in northeastern Pennsylvania - the Mall at Steamtown, Laurel Mall, Viewmont Mall, and Wyoming Valley Mall - were recognized for marketing excellence by the 31st annual MAXI Awards program of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

As a group, they won a MAXI at a ceremony yesterday evening at the ICSC Fall Convention in Minneaplois. This year's winners were selected from a field of 414 entries and 242 finalists in the MAXI Awards competition. Their award-winning entry was in a special category creaed this year in recognition of resonses to September 11. The four malls, which are fun by three different companies, joined formeceds to help mobilizelocal relief efforts. Servicng as drop-off points, they collected more that $1 million woth of supplies and #35,000 in cash to aid releief workers at the World Trade Center Site. The goods they collected filled three 52-foot tractor-trailers, seventeen 24-foot semi-tractor-trailers and four vans.
