FSAWV HOLDS MARDI GRAS BENEFIT DINNER DANCE
While many people associate Mardi Gras with revelers in the streets of New Orleans' French Quarter, few know of another Mardi Gras tradition: charity balls. Parade floats and fundraising that benefit social agencies and organizations are as much a part of Mardi Gras as throwing glass beads to the crowds.
On March 1, Wilkes-Barre will have its first-ever black-tie optional Mardi Gras charity ball to benefit Family Service Association of Wyoming Valley. The dinner dance will be held on Saturday, March 1 at the Waterfront Banquet Center. The affair features a silent auction, a diamond hunt courtesy of Bartikowsky's and a "dive" for a black Tahitian pearl. The New York Times Band will provide dance music.
Tickets are $50 per person. For more information, contact FSAWV at 823-5144.
FSAWV is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that has served Luzerne and Wyoming counties since its founding in 1896. FSAWV's services include the 24-hour Help Line.
