THE GREATER WILKES-BARRE CHAMBER OF BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY (CBI)

 OUR MISSION

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry and its affiliates are community, economic development and business service organizations charged with the mission of collaborating with community and regional partners to create quality employment and business opportunities and improve the area’s quality of life through strategic planning, programs and investments in our community.

The organization works on a wide range of projects – from business recruitment and job creation programs to Downtown revitalization, entrepreneurial and workforce development, riverfront, greenways initiatives, and more. Complementing those initiatives is the work of the CBI’s three main subsidiaries – the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Development Corporation and the Greater Wilkes-Barre Industrial Fund – and its affiliate, the Diamond City Partnership:

  • The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization representing over 1350 businesses by providing a wide range of targeted business programs and services. Over 400 volunteers work with the Chamber organize networking sessions, take positions on legislative issues that affect business and community, provide targeted marketing opportunities and business development programs, to assist in shaping and refining our transportation infrastructure, to provide benefits for area businesses and more.
  • The Greater Wilkes-Barre Development Corporation owns, develops and manages the area business parks – Crestwood Industrial Park (Mountaintop), Hanover Industrial Estates (Hanover Township/Warrior Run/Sugar Notch), Hanover Crossings (Hanover Township), Highland Business Park (Wilkes-Barre Township) and The Corporate Center at East Mountain (Plains Township) and the organization’s real estate, including the Public Square Commons Building (2 Public Square) and the Innovation Center @ Wilkes-Barre (www.icwb.biz). Over 60%of the real estate development done by this entity involved the reclamation of land (greyfields development).
  • The Greater Wilkes-Barre Industrial Fund handles business-financing programs for industrial loans (coordinating effort with federal, state and local officials).
  • The Diamond City Partnership is an affiliate organization of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber and is designed to improve the economic viability and livability of Downtown Wilkes-Barre. Further information on the Diamond City Partnership is located at www.diamondcitypartnership.com.
