Broadway on the Boulevard (previously known as the Pittston David Blight School of Dance) is hosting its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. All families and people of the community are encouraged to stop by for complimentary refreshments, to check out the newly renovated, high-quality facility and to meet the BOTB staff. Free BOTB t-shirts will given to those who register for fall classes that day. The Pittston David Blight School of Dance, which had been located in downtown Pittston for over 20 years, changed ownership in late June of this year. New owners Rachel Leandri and Brad Chikowski are thrilled to bring an upbeat, artistic initiative into the already-evolving city of Pittston. “I’ve grown up dancing within the walls of this studio for over 20 years now,” Leandri, studio director and owner, said. “It’s only right to share my passion and knowledge for the art of dance with others right where it all began. We are so excited to open our doors and welcome students of all ages, levels and abilities into our home!” The ribbon cutting ceremony, put on by Wilkes University’s Small Business Development Center, will take place at 1 p.m. outside in the parking lot. At 2 p.m., Instructor Jill Wetzel will conduct a ballroom demonstration with her students inside BOTB’s middle studio room. An ice-cream truck, balloon making and a DJ will also be included in the day’s festivities. Broadway on the Boulevard is NEPA’s premiere dance studio offering professional training and instruction in tap, jazz, hip-hop and ballet technique, along with adult dance, fitness and ballroom classes. BOTB also has an award-winning competition program.
