The Downtown Ministerium of Wilkes-Barre presents the 2020 Lenten Series of Organ Recitals and Ecumenical Services, an annual tradition that dates back to the 1920s. This year’s series continues on Wednesday, March 4, with an organ recital at 11:30 am by Christopher Prestia of Harrisburg and Lancaster, PA, followed by the Lenten Service at 12:00 pm. The Rev’d Dr. Robert Zanicky, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre, will lead the service, and the preacher will be Rabbi Larry Kaplan of Temple Israel. Special music will be presented by mezzo-soprano Carol Tome and Canon Mark Laubach, St. Stephen’s Organist and Choirmaster and the music coordinator for the series. A soup and sandwich lunch will be served following the service, with a suggested donation of $4.00 per person. Offerings received at this year’s services and lunches will support Dinner for Kids.
