The Economics Department of King’s College is hosting a free performance by six authentic Maasai herdsmen and warriors and two Maasai women from Kenya on Thursday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Burke Auditorium of the McGowan School of Business, King’s College, 133 North River Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Maasai live alongside the wildlife in the northernmost part of the Serengeti and their livelihoods still depend largely on raising cattle, goats, and sheep. Their performance will feature their unique jumping form of dancing, colorful clothing, singing in multi-part harmony, and stories from their daily lives. Handmade crafts from their village will be on display. Proceeds from the sales of crafts will help to support critical needs of the life-saving Maasai Water Project. Donations for that project will also be appreciated.
