The Schemel Forum at University of Scranton in collaboration with Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine presents "Music and Medicine: Chopin and the Power of Resilience" featuring Richard Kogan, MD
Psychiatrist and concert pianist Dr. Richard Kogan, clinical professor of psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and artistic director of the Weill Cornell Music and Medicine Program, will give a lecture/concert that explores how the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) grappled with pulmonary disease, exile from his beloved homeland and a tempestuous relationship with the novelist George Sand. The discussion will be illuminated by piano performances of some of Chopin’s most beloved masterpieces.
