The NEPA Works Project is a 12-month pilot program launched by Wilkes-Barre Connect that will enhance the quality of workforce in Northeastern PA by addressing specific skills gaps, in an effort to increase opportunities for employees to find gainful employment and provide businesses with the opportunity to expand because of the additional qualified workers. NEPA Works consists of two components: "Reimagining our Workforce" and "Coding the Coal Region."
"Reimaging our Workforce" is the launch of a communication strategy to promote the public workforce system. Partnering with local workforce leaders, this strategy will feature two primary goals: increase user activity and increase job placement rates, through the integration of technology.
"Coding the Coal Region" is a project to increase the computer programming skills in Northeast PA by providing students with access to curriculum, training, and certification modules to meet the immediate workforce needs of the computer programming industry in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
