    Job Description
    Luzerne county Head start, Inc. 23 Beekman Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, is seeking a highly motivated, creative professional to provide the lead role in Grant Writing, Community Outreach and Public Relations while maintaining collaborative partnering efforts with outside community agencies. This position will research grant programs, write and or assist in the preparation of funding applications for submission to county, state, and federal agencies, private foundations, and/or local businesses. Focus is also centered on the agency Annual Report, Community Assessment and website content.

    programs include Head Start/Early Head Start of Luzerne and Wyoming Counties, including state funded
    PreK Counts programming. LCHS is a leader in early childhood education and was selected as one of the

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Grant Writing - provide the lead role in developing proposals and completing grant applications for additional funding to expand/enhance HS services to the community that completely follow requirements, guidelines and all specifications.
    • Research grant programs and priorities, including corporate, foundation and governmental resources, identifying new prospective funders.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with funders including foundations, government entitles and/or businesses.
    • Provide assistance and technical expertise and guidance to staff in developing program concepts for grant applications.
    • Review grant funded contracts and ensure reporting obligations are met; compile data and prepare reports as needed.
    • Community Outreach/Public Relations - provide the lead role in developing media releases/advisories, displays, videos, public service announcements, brochures, community newsletter, annual reports, and other mediums to publicize and promote agency activities.
    • Gather data and other input to prepare annual and updated Community Assessments.
    • Collaborate with the Management Information Systems Department to compile data from programs for conducting needs assessments and evaluations, publishing annual reports and developing grant applications/proposals.
    Job Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Grant Writing or related discipline
    • Advanced skills in Windows 10, Excel, spread sheet, and internet data searches
    • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills 
    •  High degree of professionalism
    Position Type:
    •  Reports directly to the Executive Director
    • Full time/52 weeks per year
