  • Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber Announces 2018 Board Leadership

    Jan. 24, 2017- The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber has elected new Executive Leadership and new Board Directors to the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business & Industry Board of Directors.

    William E. (Bill) Sordoni, President and CEO of Sordoni Construction, will fulfill his second term as the 2018 Board Chair of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business & Industry Board of Directors. Sordoni Construction Services, Inc. is Northeastern Pennsylvania’s largest construction management and general contracting firm with over 100 years of experience in the commercial, industrial, healthcare and education sectors.

    Bill has a dedicated history of business leadership in the community, serving on a number of community and business boards, which include the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry, the Sordoni Family Foundation, the United Way of Wyoming Valley, The Institute of Public Policy and Economic Development, Geisinger Health, Penn’s Northeast, Hunters Sharing the Harvest, the Wilkes University Family Business Alliance, and Wyoming Seminary.   Prior to joining Sordoni Construction, Bill held leadership positions at Accenture in New York City and Philadelphia, and at Saucon Technologies in Bethlehem, PA.

    Mary Erwine, RN, MSN, President, Erwine Home Health & Hospice, Inc. was elected as the 2018 Board Chair of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce.  In 1993, Mary Erwine set out to create a health care organization that was committed to both state of the art medical technology and compassionate, personalized care that focused on the needs of each individual.  Erwine Home Care was the first of three of her companies. 

    Mary is very involved in the local community, and serving on boards for the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business & Industry, Circle 200, Misericordia University, Diocese of Scranton, and as an Advisory Board Member for PNC Bank, Northeast Region.
    Wico van Genderen, President and CEO at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber, looks forward to their leadership. “We are very fortunate to have two strong business leaders serving as Chairs to our Chamber of Commerce and our Chamber of Business and Industry Board of Directors.   Mary and Bill share a lifelong passion for our Valley, a strong economic development drive for NEPA, and valuable business acumen in leading their companies to thrive and grow in the region."

    In addition to Bill and Mary’s leadership to the Board,  the following have been elected as members of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business & Industry Board of Directors in 2018: John Henry, Director of Communications, Martz Group; Cornelio Catena, Chief Operating Officer, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital a Commonwealth Health Company; Steven Clemente, CPA, Snyder & Clemente Accountants and Consultants; Angelo DeCesaris, Commercial Banking Relationship Manager, Fidelity Deposit & Discount Bank; Dale Jones, Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, Penn State Wilkes-Barre; Sharon Lehman, Owner, Sharon Lehman Designs, LLC; and Tom Williams, Client Solutions Manager Quad Three Group, Inc.

    New members of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors include Lucy Boardwine, Director of Marketing, Borton-Lawson; Donald Brominski, Director of Business Development, UGI Utilities; Bill Fromel, CPA, Partner, Kronick Kalada Berdy & Company, P.C.; Joseph Borland, Attorney, Borland & Borland; and Zubeen Saeed, President/CEO, Building Blocks Learning Center.
