  • Northeast Pennsylvania Safety Network Announcement for January 17, 2020 Meeting

Professional group to provide workplace safety assistance
Nanticoke, PA – December 21, 2019 - Representatives from The Public Safety Training Institute at the Luzerne County Community College, the Wilkes-Barre Area OSHA office, PA OSHA Onsite Consultation Program from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and local environmental, safety and health professionals associated with various businesses, industries and educational centers throughout Northeast Pennsylvania have formed the Northeast Pennsylvania Safety Network (NEPSN).

The mission of NEPSN is to create a forum and network of resources for workplace safety, health and the environment available to all businesses and organizations in Northeast Pennsylvania.  The key focus of NEPSN is to create a network of EHS professionals who provide useful information on best management practices and ways to improve occupational safety and health and environmental quality in the workplace.  NEPSN invites all small businesses, industry, logistics, construction and service organizations to participate so they may discuss and devise methods to integrate proactive occupational safety and health management systems and practices into their businesses.  By fostering this network and information sharing platform, NEPSN hopes to achieve better, more sustainable, and profitable workplaces for all participating businesses, both large or small.

NEPSN is currently accepting no-obligation memberships from all interested parties including students, business and industry, professional organizations, service organizations, logistical settings, governance, construction firms, labor unions, and individuals interested in workplace safety and health.  There is no fee for membership in NEPSN, nor are there any requirements for meeting attendance, participation is entirely voluntary.   Attendance at NEPSN meetings and activities are open to the public free of charge.

NEPSN is modeled after similar Safety Alliances between OSHA, educational centers and business/industry groups throughout the Country.  For 2020 and going forward, the NEPSN is planning to meet on a monthly or bi-monthly basis at host locations throughout NEPA.  Meeting offerings, presentations, and information discussed will be timely and include seasonal topics on key issues and emerging trends in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene and environmental quality.  NEPSN meetings are intended to be gateways by which organizations and individuals can learn best management practices and share successes and challenges in an open forum, all with the goal of enhancing occupational safety and health and environmental quality and performance in the workspace.

NEPSN is pleased to announce our first public meeting to be held on January 17, 2020 at the Luzerne County Community College Public Safety Training Institute on Middle Road in Nanticoke, PA.   The snow date for the event is one week later – January 24, 2020.    The meeting will start promptly at 8am and will focus on the introduction of NEPSN to participants and a presentation by the PA OSHA Consultation program from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
